Your Journey to the Island
Getting to Siargao
The Route
From Manila to Siargao Island
Siargao is served by Sayak Airport (IAO), located in Del Carmen on the northern side of the island. Most accommodations and our wedding venues are in General Luna, about 37 km south of the airport. Here's how to get there, step by step.
Step One
Fly to Sayak Airport
Tip: Book your flights early — Siargao is increasingly popular and seats fill up quickly, especially from January to April. Morning flights tend to have smoother landings at Sayak, which is known for crosswinds in the afternoon.
Step Two
Sayak Airport → General Luna
Once you land at Sayak Airport, you'll need to travel south to General Luna — approximately 37 km along the island's coastal road. Vans and tricycles are available right outside the arrivals hall.
Shared Van
45 – 60 min
Vans depart when full, available just outside the airport arrivals hall. The most common and economical option.
Private Van
45 min
Book in advance through your resort or arrange at the airport. Best for groups and those with luggage.
Tricycle
60 – 75 min
Open-air ride for solo travelers or couples. Negotiate the fare before departing.
Resort Transfer
45 min
Many resorts and villas offer private airport pickup. Ask your accommodation when booking.
Fares are in Philippine Pesos (₱). Have cash ready — card payment is rarely available for airport transfers. We recommend confirming the fare before departing.
Alternative Route
Via Surigao City Port
Prefer a scenic sea crossing? You can reach Siargao through Surigao City on the north coast of Mindanao — a classic route for travelers coming from Manila by ferry or connecting flights.
Manila → Surigao City
Fly from Manila to Surigao Airport (SUG) — usually with a quick connection through Cebu on Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines (~3–4 hours total). For a slower, romantic journey, 2GO Travel operates an overnight ferry from the Port of Manila direct to Surigao City (~24–30 hours).
Surigao Airport → Surigao City Port
Surigao Airport sits about 20 km north of the city. From the terminal, take a tricycle or shared van down to the Surigao City Port — about 30–45 minutes (~₱150–₱300 by tricycle, or ~₱50–₱100 per person by shared van). Taxis are limited, so arrange a tricycle at the airport exit or ask your hotel to book one ahead.
Tip: Arrive at the port at least 45 minutes before your ferry's departure to buy tickets and board comfortably.
Surigao City Port → Port of Dapa
From Surigao City Port, fastcraft vessels cross the Surigao Strait to the Port of Dapa on Siargao Island in ~1.5–2 hours for ~₱400–₱700 — a quicker, smoother ride, ideal for catching daylight on the water.
Slower alternative: Regular RORO ferries (Montenegro Shipping, Fortune Express) take ~2.5–3.5 hours for ₱300–₱600 if you prefer a more leisurely crossing or the fastcraft is fully booked.
Schedules are weather-dependent, so confirm departure times a day ahead.
Port of Dapa → General Luna / Malipaya Villas
Vans and tricycles wait at the Dapa port. The ride south to General Luna and Malipaya Villas takes about 30–40 minutes (~₱300–₱500 per person by shared van, or ₱500–₱800 by tricycle).
Indicative Surigao → Dapa Schedule
| Vessel | Departure | Arrival | Duration | Est. Fare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular RORO | 6:00 AM | 9:00 AM | ~3 hrs | ₱300–₱450 |
| Fastcraft | 7:30 AM | 9:00 AM | ~1.5 hrs | ₱400–₱700 |
| Regular RORO | 11:00 AM | 2:00 PM | ~3 hrs | ₱300–₱450 |
| Fastcraft | 1:00 PM | 2:30 PM | ~1.5 hrs | ₱400–₱700 |
| Regular RORO | 4:00 PM | 7:00 PM | ~3 hrs | ₱300–₱450 |
Schedules change seasonally and are weather-dependent — always confirm with the operator. A terminal fee (~₱10–₱30) and a Siargao environmental/eco fee may apply at the port.
Good to know: If you're coming from Manila via Cebu, flying direct to Sayak Airport (IAO) is usually faster. The Surigao City route is best if you're already exploring Mindanao or want the sea crossing experience.
